With your help, we’re improving communities, economies, and equality through sponsoring the education of young Kenyan women, providing sexual & reproductive health awareness, and removing obstacles that stand in their way.

“We know that when we empower girls, everybody benefits. Girls who are educated, healthy and free can transform their communities and pass on the benefits to their children, and to their children’s children.”

~ Graca Machel

We’re making progress!

Every girl deserves access to education healthcare, and support. Acacia in Kenya has been able to sponsor over 250 scholarships to young women attending the St. Elizabeth Lureko Girls School, funded by generous donors and other fundraising efforts. And we’re making great progress in other areas as well:

  • We support our students by giving them shoes and socks which are part of the school’s required uniforms

  • In the months ahead, Acacia in Kenya will propose, develop, and launch a capital campaign for the purpose of buying land for a vocational/technical school and developing a plan for the school’s initial infrastructure.

  • We organize and support the annual International Day of the Girl Child event, and St. Elizabeth Lureko hosted the 2022 celebration

  • We’re helping to end the stigma surrounding menstruation through events and education; in May we organized Menstrual Hygiene Day, teaching the importance of proper hygiene, products available, and how to safely manage periods. An event was held at St. Elizabeth Lureko, providing sanitary pads, inspiring talks on the subject, activities, comedy and music.

  • We support empowerment through the celebration of International Women’s Month and International Women’s Day at the school.

  • We hold multiple grass-roots fundraisers, ranging from yard sales here in the US, to online fund drives for specific efforts, and exchanging handmade Kenyan goods for donations.

  • On every trip to Kenya, we transport much needed goods ranging from clothing and hygiene items, to seeds for farming.

We do this because the education of young women transforms their lives and has a profoundly positive effect on their communities. When girls achieve higher levels of education, they’re less likely to get married or have children at an early age, and are less likely to die during childbirth. Educated mothers also provide better nutrition for their children.

Please Give.

Acacia in Kenya could not accomplish all that we have without the contributions of our generous, compassionate, and loyal donors! If you would like to contribute to our mission, we would be very grateful for your donation.
